While wandering through the Perilously Fun Fiction Fortress this week, I discovered something slightly unsettling.
There is a hallway here that I am fairly certain I did not design.
It is narrow.
The lights flicker.
And it connects two wings of the Fortress that should not logically be connected.
Naturally, I opened the door.
Welcome to the Secret Passage.
This unexpected corridor links two very different stories in my fictional universe. One bends time. The other travels deep into space. Somehow they are connected in ways I did not originally plan.
Which is either fascinating or mildly alarming.
Door One, Time Trap
Behind the first door lies one of the Fortress’s more unstable areas.
This is the section where time occasionally behaves like a rebellious teenager. It ignores rules, rearranges schedules, and refuses to cooperate with anyone’s plans.
Time Trap is a story where the timeline begins bending in ways no one expects. Small choices ripple outward. Events shift. Characters discover that time is far less predictable than we would like to believe.
Which is already dangerous enough before anything else goes wrong.
Door Two, Nebula Nine
If you keep walking down the hallway, another door appears.
This one opens into Nebula Nine, a very different part of the Fortress. Here the stars stretch out across deep space and the stakes move from tangled timelines to interstellar adventure.
It is the kind of place where heroes must make impossible decisions while the universe refuses to stay quiet for long.
The Moment I Realized Something Strange
Here is where things became interesting.
At the end of Time Trap, someone appears.
If you have read Nebula Nine, you might recognize that person.
Yes.
The hero from Nebula Nine quietly steps through the doorway at the end of Time Trap.
Which means one of two things is happening.
Either my characters are wandering through passages I never planned, or the Fortress has started connecting its own wings behind my back.
Honestly, both explanations feel possible.
How Stories Sometimes Connect
One of the things I love most about writing is discovering connections between stories that I did not originally intend.
A character appears unexpectedly.
A world brushes against another one.
And suddenly the Fortress becomes larger than I imagined.
Sometimes those connections appear years after a book is written. Sometimes they open brand new doors for future stories.
That is one of the joys of storytelling. The world continues growing even after you think you understand the map.
If You Want to Explore the Passage
If you enjoy stories where time refuses to behave, science fiction collides with mystery, and characters occasionally wander into the wrong universe, you might enjoy exploring these two corners of the Fortress.
Start with Time Trap if you want to experience the timeline bending mystery.
Or open the door to Nebula Nine if you prefer deep space adventure.
Just choose carefully. I am still not entirely certain where that hallway leads.
Closing the Door, For Now
Thank you for continuing this tour through my slightly chaotic imagination.
So far in the Perilously Fun Fiction Fortress you have visited:
The Hangar
The Time Rift Sector
The Funhouse
The Cyborg Containment Unit
The Secret Passage
There is still one wing I have not opened yet.
It is the one where the lights flicker and faint carnival music drifts through the halls late at night.
I will show you that corridor soon.
