My AI Policy

My AI Policy is:

My writing

I don’t use AI in my writing. I use AI so I can write. I use it in my publishing business, for tasks such as drafting ad copy, analyzing sales data and organizing my marketing, and I review everything before it goes out.

AI is also part of some stages of my creative and business process. AI assists in some editing, and helping with covers and audiobook production. I act as the creative director: I decide what to make, review every output, and take full responsibility for everything published under my name.

My publishing

I use AI for cover design, some audiobook narration, translations, and marketing copy. Where AI-generated text, images or translations appear in my books, I declare this to retailers as their rules require.

My work and AI training

My books may not be used to train AI models without my permission and fair payment. Where possible, I have opted out of AI training on the platforms I use.

However, as a human who was trained by reading and studying other people’s creative output, I am open to helping to train AI to become better at what it does.

I ask the editors, designers, narrators and other partners I work with to tell me if and how they use AI on my books.

My commitment

Whatever tools I use, I’m responsible for what I publish. I’ll keep this policy up to date as my practice changes, and I respect other authors’ right to make different choices.
