In this post, we’re stepping into the Out of Time sector, home to my time travel trilogy filled with WWII intrigue, Cold War rumors, and a timeline that refuses to behave.

If you’ve been following along on my ongoing tour of the Perilously Fun Fiction Fortress, you already know that each corridor leads to a different part of my storytelling universe.
Last week we visited the Restricted Sector. Once you get past that area, however, something strange begins to happen.
The clocks stop agreeing with each other.
One says 1942.
Another insists it’s 1954.
A third appears to be ticking backward, then forward, then spinning randomly as if it has completely given up on the concept of time.
Which can only mean one thing.
Welcome to the Out of Time Sector.
This is the part of the Fortress where history becomes… flexible. Sometimes painfully so.
🕰 Door One: Out of Time
Behind the first door you’ll meet Mel.
She doesn’t set out to unravel conspiracies or fracture the timeline. She simply wants to save her grandfather’s life.
A reasonable goal.
Unfortunately, the door she steps through doesn’t lead to another room.
It leads straight into World War II.
Because in this wing of the Fortress, a family emergency sometimes results in temporal displacement.
🚪 Door Two: Just in Time
The second door opens onto a 1950s aircraft testing base.
Engines roar.
Test aircraft scream across the sky.
And rumors swirl.
Was the president really at the dentist?
Or was he meeting someone — or something — much more mysterious?
Ty and Alice don’t have time (see what I did there?) to determine whether aliens are real. They’re far too busy trying to stay alive.
Their story becomes a race against time itself, forcing impossible choices that could change the future.
On the bright side, Alice does get a smile from Frank Sinatra in Palm Springs, which is a pretty good consolation prize.
🚪 Door Three: Telling Time
By the time you reach the third door, the timeline is no longer politely cooperating.
It’s unraveling.
All the problems — and the attempted solutions — have created even more time chaos for Jack and Mel, and Ty and Alice.
At this point the group “recruits” a 1960s stunt pilot to investigate a problem in 1947.
Because when reality itself is bending, the obvious solution is to add someone whose job involves flying recklessly through the sky.
Naturally.
There is a time villain.
There are consequences.
There are many moments of “this was not in the plan.”
And by the end?
Time is no longer just the backdrop of the story.
It becomes a force in its own right.
It has opinions.
And it does not appreciate being meddled with.
When Time Pushes Back
The Out of Time trilogy begins with one woman trying to save her grandfather.
But it quickly expands into secrets, conspiracies, and mysteries that refuse to neatly resolve themselves.
Because sometimes the most dangerous forces in the Fortress don’t come from outer space.
Sometimes they come from our own past.
And when the timeline is pushed too far?
Time eventually comes to collect what it’s owed.
