Three Days to Pirogue Wipe Out

I am a little excited about this.

Why Pirogue Wipe Out Pauline Baird Jones

In three days, Pirogue Wipe Out, the seventh book in my Big Uneasy series will release.

Three days.

I am a little excited about this.

When I wrote the first book, Relatively Risky, their were thirteen Baker siblings, so that meant I planned to write at least thirteen books. There will actually be fourteen books, because Louisiana Lagniappe is about Zach, the Baker dad of all those siblings.

So that means—with number seven releasing—I’m halfway through the series.

Just saying that makes my heart clutch a little. After writing seven books, I’m very attached to the Bakers. And yes, I’m already worried about what comes next. 🙄

It’s an author thing. Probably. I guess it could be a “me” thing.

But I’m going to mentally kick that can down the road and focus on the book in front of me right now.

Pirogue Wipe Out.

I really had fun writing this book.

That’s not to say the characters didn’t make me work for it. This book stretched me in some new ways.

While this isn’t the first book to move locations out of New Orleans (don’t worry, we’re moving back in the next book!), it was definitely mind-twisty, mostly because the characters made me work to get them together and then figure out how to keep them together.

And keep them alive to get together.

And that Rougarou!

That is the last time I try to work with a mythical creature!

So, you will like this book if:

You like armchair trips to Louisiana (you do miss out on the food, but you also miss out on the heat, the bugs, and the humidity. And the Rougarou.)

You like heroes and heroines who have to overcome mutual distrust before they can fall in love. Not to mention survive.

You like romantic suspense that twists in unexpected directions.

You like puzzles that don’t make sense until they do.

You like blush-free reads (not prim, not steamy, nicely in the middle of the reading spectrum)

Here’s the blurb:

No-nonsense Coast Guard agent, Dan Baker finds himself going where he doesn’t want to go (the swamp) and feeling what he never thought he’d feel (in love or in like). He really hopes the mysterious Gemma isn’t the murderer because he doesn’t want or need her in his life.

Gemma Bailey’s “get away from it all” summer on the charter boat Reel Escape, is not turning out like she’d hoped. There is a dubious lawyer, a sinister mob figure, and some murders. Was it the Rougarou? It is a pity the way too attractive Dan Baker thinks she’s the murderer.

Can they untwist the tangled ties, clear Gemma and the Rougarou, and ride off into the sunset on Dan’s Triumph?

Don’t miss out on this latest installment in the Big Uneasy series!

And here’s where you can buy it (releasing September 29, 2022!)

Amazon   Apple Books   Kobo   Barnes & Noble   GooglePlay  Universal Link

And if you hate to wait, you can get it early when you buy it directly from me!

If you’re a fan of the series, or even new to the series, I hope you’ll dive in and give it a try. I really think you’ll be glad you did!

How do you like your books? With lots of sizzle? Or moderate sizzle (nothing explicit, but some nice sexual tension)?

Perilously yours,
