Craving a good read? Here's your chance! Download the full short story, "Family Treed." Trust me, it's a hilarious yet nail-biting night out that will leave you craving more!
I am not a fan of New Year’s Resolutions. There is some quirk in my personality that if I resolve to do something, my brain immediately starts looking for an out.
So I have to sneak up my brain to make changes to how I do things.
See how I did that?
My brain is fine with “making changes” as long as I don’t “resolve.”
I have to work with what I’ve got.
But, despite the ongoing conflict with my brain, I love how it feels to face a new year.
It feels so full of possibilities and opportunties—even if the year I’m leaving totally kicked my tush.
I was once accused of being an optimist.
I’m not sure that is the right term for me because I can be quite cynical about some things.
But I really hate wasting energy on being bummed.
When the storm is raging—like really a raging hurricane—I like, wow, this is really crazy, but interesting.
So that is a thing I do. When life is kicking my tush and someone asks how I am, I’ll respond, “Life is interesting.”
(That’s a clue. If you ask me how I am and I give this answer, back slowly away because I’m probably a disater zone.)
So how about you? Do you resolve? Are you a resolve keeper? (If you are, how do you do that??? I’m impressed!)
Perilously yours,
Pauline
