When I tell people my author tagline is Perilously Fun Fiction, I usually get a smile — and sometimes a raised eyebrow. “Perilously?” they ask. “Fun?” Yes. Both.
The phrase was inspired by an old melodrama movie called The Perils of Pauline. I’ve always loved melodrama — the over-the-top adventures, the high stakes, the sly humor tucked into the danger. It’s storytelling that doesn’t apologize for being what it is: exciting, dramatic, and just a little outrageous.
And that’s exactly what I want my readers to find in my books.
I write adventure that leans into danger — sometimes with rockets, sometimes with bullets, sometimes with both. My stories are classic in tone, a little retro in style, and rooted in values that matter: loyalty, courage, integrity, and love that goes the distance. My romances are closed-door, but that doesn’t mean the sparks don’t fly. Think “good old-fashioned American adventure”… with a twist.
Over the years, I’ve collected a few taglines that capture different facets of my brand:
- Perilously Fun Fiction (my anchor — the one that started it all)
- Good Old-Fashioned Adventure with a Twist (for readers who crave timeless storytelling)
- Adventure and Romance That Doesn’t Apologize (for when I want to lean into the bold, pulp energy)
- Romance, Rockets, and the American Way (for my sci-fi and space-faring tales)
Each of these lines shines a light on the promise I make to readers: my books will be thrilling, values-driven, witty, and, above all, fun.
So whether you’ve come looking for mystery, romantic suspense, or rocket-fueled sci-fi adventure, I hope you’ll find yourself swept up in stories that feel both classic and unexpected — stories that might just make you laugh, gasp, and maybe stay up a little too late turning the pages.
Because that’s what perilously fun fiction is all about.
