Tomorrow is Mardi Gras 2022.
Of course, the festivities have been going on for some time, but tomorrow is the culmination of the festivities.
I wasn’t a huge fan of Mardi Gras. I’m a hermit and Mardi Gras attracts CROWDS.
But it still fascinated me.
So here’s the nine-one-one on Mardi Gras.
1. Mardi Gras is French for “Fat Tuesday.”
2. It begins after Epiphany or Three Kings Day and ends the day before Ash Wednesday, which is the beginning of Lent. New Orleans celebrates from Twelfth Night until Ash Wednesday. They do like a party.
4. There are also masks involved.
5. There are also HUGE floats in the parades and balls during the season.
6. There is music, all kinds of music.
7. And crowds. So many people.
8. In the aftermath, record piles of trash will be collected and hauled away.
I haven’t set a Big Uneasy during Mardi Gras yet, but I’m not ruling it out. I do have a book that involves Mardi Gras beads called Worry Beads. Hey, it’s a start!
Perilously yours,
Pauline
