How to Declare Yourself King of a Planet

Terranue Tour banner

Blue has grown up on earth, but he has known from day one that a) this is NOT his planet b) the inferior beings called human think he should be their beast of burden. Needless to say, it makes him cranky.

When Tamsarandem takes Blue with them when they go outbound, he can’t wait to get back to his true home. He’s given no thought to the welcome he’ll received, but surprisingly, Shaman Troy has a great deal of advice for him.Blue profile

Sage advice 1: Don’t let your love of one (that would be human Saran) favor the needs of all your people. You are their messiah. They need you.

Sage advice 2: Don’t bicker with smart ass, evil bulls.

Sage advice 3: Wear your jeweled cloak, it’s been blessed and will protect you.

Thus Blue had Saran’s son keep Saran safe, so he could behave like a proper king. He had Shaman Troy fly him to his valley of Sargons, and asked Ky to feed him grass, which Ky did on bended knee. He declares himself Messiah and King in a majestic voice and didn’t bother arguing with their current king. He just waited for the angry bull to charge him, then dispatched him to hell. He only had to kill one more before the other bulls decided they were okay with him being king.

And that is how to become King.

 Blurb:

Leading a colony of frightened people on a new world is rarely easy. The human colonists of Terranue have as their leader, Tamsarandem, the only Soul-bond of Three that has ever existed. Unfortunately, some perceive the innate kindness in the shaman’s choice of leaders as a weakness, thus, challenges begin. From the moment they arrive on the planet, self-survival instincts take hold among the colonists, putting the survival of the colony at risk.

To survive, they must act for the good of the colony rather themselves, even when their natural instincts tell them to do the opposite. First, they must befriend the dominant intelligent life form on the planet, long-haired blue cattle, only slightly smaller than the blue bull Tamsarandem brought with them. Second, they must find a way to survive three of the planet’s five seasons. Otherwise, they’ll be baked, frozen, and pummeled to death. Third, they must protect themselves from the giant bears, saber tooth lions, and T. rexes that roam their planet. But worst of all, deep within the planet, a seed of evil grows, waiting to devour every living creature on the surface.

Every day in their new paradise is a challenge to survive. Despite all the advantages the Gods have provided, success is neither easy nor certain, and people are rarely as good as they need to be.

Excerpt

Blue shifted his stance and turned his head slightly to the right, but otherwise remained calm as the bull approached. Just before the bull rammed its horns into Blue’s neck, he swung his powerful head low and sideways, driving a horn deep into the fool’s chest. Blue lifted his opponent up and tossed him ten feet through the air before the former leader smashed to the ground.

The other bulls waited for their king to rise. When he did not, another bull pushed out from the pack and pranced about making a great show of his prowess. Blue sighed. “Why do you attack me? Is there no one who remembers the prophecies? Have you regressed so far you cannot recall the times of enlightenment?”

“I, Solomon, the oldest of all Sargons, remember,” a bull said from the edge of the valley. “There will come a time of darkness when Sargons lose their way, and the beast of old threatens to devour their souls. When this day comes, I will send my son to lead you to light, and he will bring harmony with enemies of our past.”

“Children’s stories,” the second bull snarled and charged. In the exact same move as before, Blue dispatched him as well.

The sight of the two strongest bulls dead in a heap made the cows moan in distress. “If you are the messiah of harmony, why have you killed our strongest bulls?” a cow on the edge demanded.

I am your strongest bull,” Blue said. “Still, it is not my desire to kill the remaining bulls. It is their choice. They may acknowledge my sovereignty or die. I am king and master, ruler of this planet—beasts, treemen, and Sargons alike.”

Solomon stepped closer and stared at Blue. “It is just as the prophecy promised. He will arrive cloaked in light with horns dipped in blood. He will declare himself king of all creatures and bring peace among the Sargons and treemen.”
