If You Like This Science Fiction Romance Then Read…

I was invited to participate in a fun event to designed to introduce readers to the genre of science fiction romance. I thought it would be really easy, but I actually struggled.

Not because I didn’t have books I loved that I wanted to suggest. I just don’t think in terms of “this book was like that book.” Generally I like a book because the story grabs me and won’t let me go.

I liked it. If I liked it a lot, then I read it again. 🙂 So if the comparison’s aren’t perfect, then blame me, not the books.

Because I liked them. 🙂

If you like Linnea Sinclair’s GAMES OF COMMAND then read  STARHEART by Greta Van der Rol

Similarities: Enemies to lovers; bio-enhancements; high stakes

If you like Ann Aguirre’s GRIMSPACE (and you like Urban Fantasy)  then read Sarah Hoyt’s DARKSHIP THIEVES

Similarities: gritty; no limits action; enemies to lovers; heroine centric; enhanced bio-tech humans.

If you like Lois McMaster Bujold’s A CIVIL CAMPAIGN  then read DIGNITY by Eva Caye
Similarities:  Leader of almost everything romancing an outsider; smart heroine; complex hero

If you like Catherine Asaro’s ALPHA then read Diane Dooley’s BLUE GALAXY

Similarities: unexpected romance; intriguing heroine; really bad bad guys

If you like Susan Grant’s CONTACT then read THE KEY by Pauline Baird Jones

Similarities:  first contact; alien hero; everything on the line; tough but approachable heroine/hero.

And if you like holiday themed anthologies, read:  A GALACTIC HOLIDAY

Fun themes: Enemies to lovers; fun nods to holiday tropes; non-instrusive holiday messages of hope and love (hey, it’s a romance anthology!).
