Craving a good read? Here's your chance! Download the full short story, "Family Treed." Trust me, it's a hilarious yet nail-biting night out that will leave you craving more!
Summer is a great time to score books at bargain prices. Everyone is competing for your summer reading time (you ARE reading, aren’t you????). I’ve already been part of the Other Worlds Blog Hop (too late to enter, but not too late to read the fun posts!) and today I’m part of a big Science Fiction Romance sale (while I hope you’ve already tried my freebies, there are a bunch of .99 and free books to check out!).
At the end of the month (which is coming up way too fast), I’m going to be part of a big mystery and suspense sale (see how I look out for my SF and mystery/suspense readers? That’s just how I roll.
I know, you’re wondering what book sales have to do with Big Boy. And the answer, is, not one thing. I just wanted to get the news out of the way up front so we could dive into the weird and wonderful with no distractions.
This Bob’s Big Boy statue is located outside of Cody, on private property (I have to believe the owners have a sense of humor.) I tried to find a Wikipedia page for it and couldn’t, so guessing that there isn’t enough information for a whole page. It just IS.
In contrast to Bob’s Big Boy, there is the Prada sculpture in Marfa TX (Marfa also has the ghost lights, how cool is that?). The Wikipedia page doesn’t have images (I presume for copyright reasons), so I grabbed a link from texasescapes.com. It’s a sculpture that looks like a real store (I thought it was funny that TXDOT was going to make them tear it down because it was an advertisement for Prada, but then had to not because OUTRAGE. Why do bureaucrats do that?)
I have yet to visit Marfa, though I’d like to. I did a lot of research on the area when I was writing “Steam Time,” a side story to my Project Enteprise series (which I’m rebooting or starting again or something).
Why am I rambling about these two quirky things? Because:
It’s summer
I like quirky (figure you must like quirky a little bit since you hang around here – haha)
I liked the hub’s Big Boy photo and wanted to share it with you in hopes it would make you smile, even though it is Monday.
That’s all.
So, do you like quirky and unexpected when you’re just tooling along the highway minding your business? Personally, I love scenery, but sometimes I just like being surprised. And I love comments so much that I pick a favorite to receive my monthly AnaBanana gift basket ($25 value). (And don’t forget that once a quarter I’ll be tossing in something fun from the Perilously Fun Shop!) Recipient is announced the first blog post of the new month.
Perilously yours,
Pauline
