August Brings Its A-game & I Bring my Kick-Me Sign

Cannoneers in historic garb

So we are officially two-thirds of the way through August, the month that loves to hate on me.

I can’t decide if the picture I chose from the hub’s Flickr page is about August figuring out how to further hose me, or that’s a representation of the voices inside my head trying to figure out how to fight back?

The score, in case you were wondering, is:

August:100

Perilous Pauline: 0.

Okay, zero might be a slight exaggeration because, despite a tenacious cold that I’m calling The Grinch (you’re a mean one…), I have had an awesome time with the grandkids (yay #GrandmaProject) and managed to:

  1. Create a coloring book (okay, I had LOTS of help with the images, but in the end, I had to format it for print). You can download the free version of the coloring book (I didn’t work on that one) or buy the print version (which is just the right size to tuck in your purse…)

  2. Formatted a print edition of Embrace the Romance: Pets in Space 2 (826 pages and 6×9 big, it could double as a footstool or personal protection – assuming you can lift it up to clock an intruder – and chockfull of romance, pets, and outer space!)

  3. Did final edits/copyedits/proofreading for Louisiana Lagniappe: The Big Uneasy 2.5, which should release by the end of the month, August willing. (Granted, so far, August has only been willing to make my life difficult, but I live in hope. Hope is pretty much all I’ve got.)

  4. While this didn’t happen in August, I’m still in the release window for Found Girl: Project Enterprise 6. So I’m going to slot it in the “win” column to make me feel better.

So perhaps, the score is August: 100 and Perilous Pauline: 4 (okay, three and a half). Of course, the month isn’t over, but I think my chances of catching up with August are pretty slim. And my birthday is hanging out there like a bad moon waiting to rise (I have the worst birthdays, possibly in the history of the world).

So, if I were you, I’d put my money on August for the win.

How has August been treating you? Any fun news to report? I love comments so much that I pick a favorite to receive my monthly AnaBanana gift basket ($25 value).  (And don’t forget that once a quarter I’ll be tossing in something fun from the Perilously Fun Shop!) The recipient is announced in the first blog post of the new month.

Perilously yours,

Pauline
