Craving a good read? Here's your chance! Download the full short story, "Family Treed." Trust me, it's a hilarious yet nail-biting night out that will leave you craving more!
I have tried hiding from my birthday (not because of my age, you understand, it’s just that my birthdays tend to go horribly wrong), but I think August heard.
It’s been hosing me ALL month.
So I thought I’d post some pictures of the fun presents I received.
Early.
Yes, I received all of these items WELl before my actual birthday.
My family basically threw the presents at me and backed slowly away, looking around warily for falling objects. (This didn’t save the hubs from the rock slide. Yes, you read that right, but he’s fine and so is the car. #Miracle)
So here’s a group picture of my birthday haul:
Despite being delivered early and with great fear, they are some really fun presents. Let’s take a closer look. Working from left to right:
You’ve probably seen flamingos if you hang around here or my Facebook wall, but parrots you ask? My sister is always not only aware of the critters that show up in my books, but she manages to find them “out there.” So the parrots are in honor of Sir Rupert, who stars in my story, Time Trap from Embrace the Romance: Pets in Space 2, available for preorder now and releasing Oct 10, 2017.
Moving on we find:
These sassy, flour bag towels can also be used in the making of my favorite birthday cake, chocolate roll. My sister was going to make it for me AND break my August/Birthday curse, but the curse got her instead. She had to leave for a family emergency (she may have told me to get my curse away from her family). The flamingos, besides being a thing for me, also make an appearance in Found Girl: Project Enterprise 6.
The frame is also from my sister and will become home to a picture of my darling grandkids (#GrandmaProject was the best part of August!). Right now that soap is my the only birthday cake. lol The scarf the hubby brought me from Iceland. I will probably need it next month. And the hubs IS risking his life to be here today. #braveman
And of course, continuing the parrot theme, my sister found this lamp on Zulily:
I think this parrot and I will be doing one of my Dead Author Live on Facebook videos in the near future. The pink thing at the right is a flamingo makeup sponge. Yes, my sister found it. She is amazing!
I didn’t get any New Orleans themed gifts because my sister didn’t know I was going to release Louisiana Lagniappe: The Big Uneasy 2.5 around my birthday. Because I didn’t know if it was going to be ready or not. (Ha! I beat you there, August!)
So, because August is not over yet, I’m not going to taunt her (him?). Instead, I’ll gently drop this post and then run and hide. Because August isn’t over yet.
Do you have a month that you fear? Are you stalked by a curse? If you have wonderful birthdays, you can tell me. So does my sister. haha
And you know I love comments so much that I pick a favorite to receive my monthly AnaBanana gift basket ($25 value). (And don’t forget that once a quarter I’ll be tossing in something fun from the Perilously Fun Shop!) The recipient is announced in the first blog post of the new month.
Perilously yours,
Pauline
