Craving a good read? Here's your chance! Download the full short story, "Family Treed." Trust me, it's a hilarious yet nail-biting night out that will leave you craving more!
A hearty welcome to Perils of Pauline, Allie! She’s touring for her book, One Night in Memphis. About the book:
Can you tell us something about the book you’re touring today? One Night in Memphis originally released in both ebook and print with Samhain Publishing, before being contracted with Audio Lark. It was an EPPIE Finalist in 2009 and, to my great delight, readers have really weighed in as loving this story and its main characters 🙂
Why did you have to tell this story? I spent a night in Memphis with my best friend after college, and I loved it! Such energy, great music, great food…plus I met and fell for a guy I couldn’t have while I was there. In some ways this story is my way of adjusting that experience for a “happily ever after.”
What was the hardest part to write or the biggest hurdle to overcome with this story? I actually rewrote the entire story after it was rejected by a number of agents and editors as not being “exciting” enough. I added the character of Sean (the bad guy), and it really did give the book a whole different dimension. Always be thankful for what those rejections can teach you!
Who are the authors you can’t wait to read? and/or what’s the book that made you want to become an author? I’m on a YA reading kick now, and so I really want to read some books by Melina Marchetta, Sarah Dessen, and John Green.
Do you have “muse” aids, such as chocolate, a special drink, music—something that gets your writing juices flowing? Well, I’ll admit, sometimes a glass of red wine can help get those writing juices flowing…
When you were seven, what did you think you’d grow up to be? A doctor. Blech. Now I can’t even watch those real-life medical shows on television.
Did you ever want a super power? What was it? I always thought it would be cool if I could become invisible. Imagine all the places you could go, and the things you could hear, if no one could see you!
What comes next for you? I’ll admit, I’m really interested to see if I can write a decent Young Adult book. I’m halfway through a revision of my first one (untitled right now), and I’m having a ball writing something in a different genre and with a really different voice. We’ll see how it goes!
Where can readers find your books and you? My book news is always available on my website ( www.allieboniface.com ) and my appearances are listed on my blog ( www.allieboniface.blogspot.com ). Hope you’ll check in with me and visit every now and then!
Can you share a yummy (PG) excerpt for my readers? Here you go!
