501 Blog Posts! Let’s Party!

Welcome to my five hundred and first blog post! Last month I mentioned I was going to hit 500 blog posts—if I survived the year. Well, Fate has a sense of humor. Or a strong sense of irony. I’m not sure which. Or maybe it’s both. I survived.

And got the flu on Day One of 2015. LOL

If you’ve had the flu, then you know there was a point when I begged for death. I was like, “Come on, Angel of Death. You’re welcome here.” Only She (or is it a He?) didn’t stop by, not even for a second.

I’m past that, thankfully. I wouldn’t say my will to live is fully back, but I’m not begging for a merciful release. I’m not sure why I’m surprised one can feel that bad and not die. It’s not like I haven’t had the flu before. In an odd twist, I had the flu last year at this time. Actually, I had the stomach flu followed by the flu.

I didn’t die then either. And yes, I begged for death. Obviously the Angel of Death does not prowl my neighborhood.

It is kind of ironic that my 501st blog post is more whine-one-one than celebration of a new milestone. But that’s how things roll when Life Happens. With a whine-one-one and a ride in the waaam-bulance.

I’m trying to resist the urge to minutely parse my symptoms. It seems to be a side effect of getting sick. Comparing symptoms with fellow sufferers. Possibly a bit of “who is the sickest” in there.

But this is supposed to be a celebration post. So, back when I began my adventure in blogging, I wasn’t sure how it would turn out. I didn’t know if anyone would come read my random wafflings.

And you did. You came, some of you commented. Even more amazing, some of you returned to read again. That is rather amazing, because this blog is a bit rambling, a bit unfocused. Hmmm, kind of like Life. When it Happens.

I don’t know if I’ll still be around for blog post 1001. I hope so. And I hope you’ll still be here, too. In the meantime, feel free to party (and forgive me if my participation is a bit on the wimpy side. I might be okay with living, but I’m still in the flu zone). You can whine. You can cheer. You can share.

And because it is a party, there will be a few extra presents. I’m going to give out a few free ebooks, some audio books, and of course, an AnaBanana gift basket ($25 value). Because what party isn’t better with some yummy soaps? Just tell me what you’d like in your comment (ebook, audio book, or basket) and if your name is drawn, I’ll be in touch!

Comments today will also be entered into my monthly AnaBanana gift basket. I will announce that winner the first blog post of the new month (At least I try. The flu caused me to misfire this month, but I have taken care of it now).
