I have been publishing for a long time. Long enough to remember when “digital publishing” sounded like something a cyborg might do after lunch.
The industry has changed again and again.
Big publishing squeezes authors.
Big bookstores squeeze authors.
Sometimes both squeeze readers, too.
Going more direct gives me room to create a better experience. It lets me build my store around my readers instead of around an algorithm.
It also lets me keep offering the kinds of stories my readers expect from me.
Romantic suspense with humor.
Science fiction romance with heart.
Time travel with danger, longing, and the occasional timeline headache.
Mysteries with romance, family, murder, and people who should probably stop standing near bodies.
I am not breaking up with Amazon yet.
But I am opening another door.
And I want that door to be welcoming, easy to use, and worth walking through.
What Would You Like To See?
This is where I would love your input.
What would make an author bookstore more fun or useful for you?
Would you like:
- Series bundles?
- Direct-only discounts?
- Bonus scenes?
- Companion guides?
- Printable reading order lists?
- Audiobook deals?
- Behind-the-scenes extras?
- A “Start Here” page?
- Signed print options?
- Early access to new releases?
- More bookish swag?
- Or something else entirely?
What would your dream online bookstore look like?
I am building mine for readers, so I would truly love to know.
And no, you do not have to stop shopping at your favorite bookstore. I still want you to read where you are happiest.
I just want you to know you have another choice.
One with fewer ads, more control, and a little lagniappe.
Because readers deserve that.
And because honestly, if I am going to build a bookstore, I want it to feel less like a warehouse and more like an adventure.
