So it’s Monday again. Funny how it happens again and again, despite its lack of popularity. If I were Monday, I’d be so embarrassed, I’d do something, like move or move. Or re-brand myself as a cool, happy day. Not the end of all joy as we know it.
It’s not like I go to bed thinking, “Wow, tomorrow is really going to be bad.” I’m actually an optimistic person. Sometimes to the point of annoying (ask my kids). I go to bed filled with a sense of tomorrow being full of possibility.
And then Monday happens. Sometimes Monday doesn’t wait until I wake up. Sometimes it barely waits for midnight to start the hosing.
I’m not sure which is worse. Anxiety dreams or the inability to sleep at all. Either way, light arrives like a beacon of hope to everything but the dark bags under my eyes.
As if being 50-something wasn’t hard enough on the ole bags. Good thing I don’t have to check them to get on a plane. They’d for sure exceed the weight limit.
And there is no concealer on the planet that will hide the double whammy of age and a Monday-caused, sleepless night.
So here’s the plan. We need a better day to step up and be the first of the work/school week. Personally, I’m kind of fond of Wednesday. But I would be open to moving Friday into the Monday slot. I don’t think its enough to just swap them. I think we should reshuffled all the days except Sunday. Messing with God’s day doesn’t seem like a good plan. And Saturday? I’m thinking no. You don’t mess with what works. Saturday and Sunday work well together. They’re friends.
But if we put Friday or Wednesday in first, then I’m thinking Thursday, though it might like to take Wednesday’s spot, rather than move into another secondary slot. Or it might like to be first. Let’s be honest, Thursday is mostly known for being the day before Friday. It might really step up and be a great first day of the week. It’s had lots of time to sit there and soak up the data. Not to mention listen to the whining that it’s not Friday. It could so show Monday how it’s done.
It’s going to be hard to find a new spot for Monday, because it’s really messed in its nest. It might be a good idea to rename it completely before slotting it in. Sort of like the Witness Protection Program for days of the week.
So let’s see where we are. Thursday, then Wednesday? Cuz I think Thursday would be bitter if Friday were right after it AGAIN. It’s so over that. So Thursday, Wednesday, Tuesday, Friday and then the Day that used to be called Monday.
So what do you think? Do you have your preferred weekday line-up? Give me your pitch for why your favorite day should be first. I’m open to suggestions. I just wish Monday was.
You know I love me some comments here, so comment away. It doesn’t even have to be on days of the week. What do you think of the Angel of Death? Comments are entered into my monthly drawing for an AnaBanana gift basket ($25 value). I announce the winner the first blog post of the new month.

And because it is still Monday and the only way to face it is with a smile….
