Perilous Pauline Confesses

This may come as a huge shock to readers of my blog, but I don’t actually write my Monday blog post on Monday. It posts at one a.m. CDT. I don’t believe in one a.m. CDT or CST. Or any time before seven or eight a.m. I barely believe in Monday. So I write it on Saturday when I’m actually sentient.

I hope this doesn’t destroy your faith in me or my Monday blog post, which is technically a Saturday blog post, but who wants to get all technical on a Monday?

I also write on Saturday so as to avoid the inevitable Monday whining. I’m much more optimistic on Saturdays. And most days that aren’t Monday.

So, in real time, I’m sitting at my desk, casting about for blog ideas while Top Gear is playing in the background. (I love that show, but would not ever want to be any of them. Ever.) Usually, I pop over to the hubs Flickr page and browse his photos for inspiration. Depending on where he’s been and how much time he’s had to process his photos, I either find a treasure trove of inspiration. Or I have to go back in time (into his albums) and dig for ideas. I prefer the instant inspiration. (Who wouldn’t?)

If the albums let me down, too (rarely), I go browse through the photos I’ve taken, but they are usually not as good as the hubs photos. Like 99.9999% of the time. I have to not make eye contact with my phone photos today, however, because last week at this time I was doing the #grandmaproject, so all my recent photos are of the grand babies. I love looking at them, so that path leads to distraction, sighing, and wishing I was back with them. And the post not getting written.

And then guilt, possibly worry, fretting—places I don’t want to go on Saturday. Cuz Saturday is supposed to be a happy, hopeful day.

Lucky for me, the hubs is even now working on new photos, so there is much in his photo stream to peruse. In fact, you’ll see one at the top of this post. I went for uplifting, because a) I liked it and b) I’ll need it by Monday. Though I was very tempted by this one:

I was there when he took the photo. And it’s SO Monday. And I’m a bit dark on most days, even my hopeful days. It’s the way I’m made. I can create happy characters, then take great delight it causing them all kinds of problems that would make me crawl into a closet and go fetal. I’m not even that sorry about what I do to them.

But I do try to be nicer to my blog readers. So, are you surprised? Relieved? Shocked and dismayed to find out that I write my Monday blog on days other than Monday? I love comments—though I hope I won’t get too beat up today cuz it’s Monday—so much that I enter them into my monthly drawing for AnaBanana gift basket that is awesome for any day of the week. (Value $25). I announce a winner the first blog post of the new month (and since this is the last blog post, that means next one! So get your comment in NOW! Quick! But please be gentle. Cuz now it really is Monday.)
