Friday Fun and Link Loving

Pauline Baird Jones, author, writer, romantic suspense author, science fiction romance author

“Just take the picture and let us have some cake.”

I hate August. Full disclosure, I was born in August. And August punishes me for being born in August by being August. It’s hot. It’s humid. And at least five times, our A/C has gone out ON my birthday. In August. When its hot and humid. Since I usually whine my way through the month, one of my daughter’s sent me this video link as a reminder that I will survive August. And to quit whining (cause she has a birthday in August, too and she doesn’t go all bat crap crazy about it.) And yes, that is my sixth birthday party. Don’t ask.

Now that we all feel more appreciative, or are at least pretending to, how about some link love.

Because I mentioned the dreaded b-word, how about a party link to get the link love started. And this isn’t just any party link. It’s really classy. Expensive. Has a kind of French name. 🙂

And then I thought some August links would be appropro:

Wikipedia on August (Apparently it was named after Augustus. Me, I’d be bitter about that.)

If I was in New Orleans, I’d eat here, cause it would make August better AND be a metaphor. Maybe. And cause John Besh is cute.

And no links about August would be complete without a definition. Can you believe they use words like “supreme dignity” for such a bitter, hot month? Neither can I.

So that’s it for this week. Hopefully we’ll all be more cheerful for the rest of this gnarly, nasty month. Of course, at the end I’ll be a year older. That didn’t use to bother me, but I’m starting to run out of a future. I can only hope I’ll at least have A/C for my “big” day.

So, do you have birthday horror stories? Love getting a year older? Really? Okay, I didn’t use to mind, though it’s not the aging part, it’s the trash kicking part, I hate. But enough about me. Tell me your favorite birthday stories or other August horror/happy stories and because I love comments, I’ll enter you in my monthly comment love drawing for a $10 gift card of wonderfulness from AnaBanana Bath & Body Treats. Winners are announced in the first Monday blog post of the new month, but leave an email addy, too, just in case.
