Craving a good read? Here's your chance! Download the full short story, "Family Treed." Trust me, it's a hilarious yet nail-biting night out that will leave you craving more!
I’m a sucker for holiday music. Okay, I love music—mostly retro music—haha. But my playlist turns from old time rock n’roll to Christmas songs this time of year.
I love the classic hymns like “Silent Night,” and “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, particularly if someone comes a’caroling to sing them. There’s nothing quite like a cold winter night and the sound of a Christmas hymn sung by a group of people who just want to share the joy of the season.
Okay, here’s a list of my favorite holiday songs in no particular order (like I’m shuffing a play list):
Baby, It’s Cold Outside
Merry Christmas Darling
I’ll Be Home for Christmas (this one made me cry when we lived far from home and family for so long)
Silent Night
Santa Baby
Blue Christmas
Away in a Manger
Please Come Home For Christmas
White Christmas (This one would bring out the tears too, when we lived down South where it didn’t snow very often)
God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen (my favorite version is by Barenaked Ladies — glad my mom never found this out!)
Hark the Herald Angles Sing
It Came Upon the Midnight Clear
Joy to the World
Little Drummer Boy
Let it snow!
Jingle Bells (we used to sing this on the way to my country grandma’s house)
Lousiana Christmas Day (Aaron Neville!!!)
Such a Night (Aaron Neville!!)
O Holy Night
Well, you get the idea. I’m a sucker for a sentimental Christmas holiday. I love to turn all the lights out but the tree, turn on the tunes and settle in with some loved ones around me.
Do you have any favorite holiday songs? They don’t have to be carols. I like music!
Perilously yours,
Pauline
And don’t forget! —->
