Treebeard in California? #trees #HubsPhoto

Treebeard is one of my favorite characters in Lord of the Rings.

Oak Strong

This photo drew my eyes because it makes me think of Treebeard from Lord of the Rings. Treebeard is one of my favorite characters from the trilogy because, I know you know, I love trees!

There were a lot of old oak trees to observe when we lived in New Orleans. They are truly amazing. There’s even a Live Oak Society in Louisiana. What is that you ask?

“The Live Oak Society is a membership organization for mature Live Oak trees. It was founded in 1934 to advance the culture, distribution, preservation, and appreciation of the southern live oak and functions under the auspices of the Louisiana Garden Club Federation, Inc. By 2013, more than 7,000 live oaks were registered with the Society.”

The live oak with the biggest girth serves as president.

Yes, you read that right. A tree is the president.

The quirkiness of that totally delights me. And I’m sure Treebeard would love that, too.

Have you heard of the Live Oak Society?

Perilously yours,
