Let’s Watch a Classic Romantic Movie or Two!

Or read a romantic story!

Classic Romantic Movies - Pauline Baird Jones

I know this is the end of the month and I probably should have done this post the beginning of the month, but I was watching my favorite classic movies. So I’ll take you back and let’s face it, there is probably enough winter left to watch a few movies.

First stop on this cinematic adventure? “How to Steal a Million.” Have you heard of it? I’m such an Audrey Hepburn fan girl, and oh my, Peter O’Toole? That man knew how to be sauve.

You might sense a theme beginning to develop. I love “Father Goose.” Cary Grant. Leslie Caron. War. Romance. Adventure. Humor. They add up to happy sighs from me.

I had to include at least one serious classic move: “Casablanca.” Now, I’ve always been a bit of a sucker for a man in a white tuxedo, and let me tell you, Humphrey Bogart did not disappoint. But let’s not forget the true star of the show: that piano player. I mean, “As Time Goes By” is now permanently stuck in my head, but it’s a small price to pay for true love.

And finally, we come to “Roman Holiday.” Audrey Hepburn, you are a goddess. And Gregory Peck, you were a babe. Seeing the two of you fall in love while gallivanting around Rome was a true delight. And let’s not forget the scene where you, Audrey, got your hair cut short. I mean, talk about taking back control of your head.

So, my friends, as I sit here with a pint of ice cream, a box of tissues (when I laugh I cry, too), and a heart full of feels, I urge you to take a journey through the land of classic romantic movies. You won’t regret it. (But you might need a pint of ice cream, too.)

And if romance reading is your jam, check out these two romance collections in my bookstore! But don’t wait too long! The 25% off coupons expire the 28th (tomorrow)!
