View from End of State Line Trail

29-WyoJones-51215257824_be9f7776ae_c

This is the view down into the canyon at the end of State Line Trail in Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area in Montana just north of the Wyoming border. Bighorn Canyon Reservoir looks muddy due to spring runoff. The reservoir was in its springtime filling stage. The Mississippian Madison Limestone forms the walls of the canyon here. The Pennsylvanian Amsden Formation forms the red slope above the cliffs. The fold visible in the center of the photo is the Devils Canyon Anticline.
