Craving a good read? Here's your chance! Download the full short story, "Family Treed." Trust me, it's a hilarious yet nail-biting night out that will leave you craving more!

It’s Thanksgiving Day here in the U.S., but you know after the feast, the shopping for the holidays will begin. (Personally, I do not leave my house. I might have mentioned one or a thousand times, that I’m a confirmed hermit. Hermits do not do well in the middle of a shopping frenzy. But I am not so crazy that I don’t love a good sale. Or know that there is great shopping online.)
That said, this holiday season will mark the first since my parents passed away the end of the summer. I have no idea what it will be like. This is new territory for me and my family. So when a friend mentioned doing a Blue Christmas for people who might also be having a less than perfect holiday season, I told her I was in.
And even if you’re not facing a blue, bluish, blue-tinged–maybe you’re looking forward to a pinkish, or full on red holiday season, it can all still get overwhelming. So why not escape into a holiday story that is not all sweetness and light? But—and this is key—one that lifts you out of the blues at the end?
My holiday duet (with Genie Davis), Open With Care has been discounted until the end of December. Check out this great review:
“In fact, [Up on the House Top] is downright quirky—but entirely magical in a family Christmas sort of way. Because of all it’s outlandishness and complicated twists, the plot would be a real challenge to sum up in a brief narrative…so I won’t even try. Suffice it to say that Jones pulls off her enchanting story with a total flair that left me smiling, and yes, once again, in the Christmas spirit.” Amazon reviewer about “Up on the House Top” in Open With Care
I promise you’ll love Genie’s evocative and haunting “Riding for Christmas,” too. But don’t take my word for it:
“Genie Davis’ Riding for Christmas takes a story of aliens and time travel and romance and throws it all in a blender and makes a truly engrossing storyline. Jane and Sam draw you to them no matter the timeline, you just want it to work for them.” Amazon Reviewer
And that’s just ONE of the books discounted to help you through your Blue Christmas! There’s also a giveaway! Rafflecopter below the fold!
So, do you feel the need to read over the holidays? What have you read recently (holiday or not), that helped you through a tough time?
I love comments so much that I pick a favorite to receive my monthly AnaBanana gift basket ($25 value). (And don’t forget that once a quarter I’ll be tossing in something fun from the Perilously Fun Shop!) Recipient is announced the first blog post of the new month.
Perilously yours,
Pauline
