Did You Ask for Doc’s Return?

Good day, one and all! I have to admit I enjoy Monday’s better now that there are book excerpts to read and to share. One of the requests and/or questions I’ve gotten since I rebooted the series was: will any of the previous characters be in the books? 

So, today I’d like to share a snippet from a scene from Doc’s (of Girl Gone Nova butt-kicking fame) point of view. When I first “met” Doc, I was worried readers would hate her. I might have braced when the book first released. To my delight, readers loved her as much as I did. That’s always a happy moment for an author. 

(And Doc would ask me, “For you? I’m the one they like.” Then she’d give me one of her deadly looks, so let’s just get on with the snippet.)

Doc missed the days when she could think orders and launch scans with a thought. General Halliwell had made her promise she wouldn’t do that anymore. 

The huddle at the front of the room began to fragment when they realized she was there. What a bunch of wimps. She wasn’t that scary anymore.
