Do You Like Free Reads?

I will confess that I’m a sucker for free reads. My kindle is loaded with free books that I’ve downloaded and don’t have time to read. The one exception is the shorts. If they are free or close to free, that’s what I open because usually my reading time comes in small snatches right now. I offer a few free reads from my website, but haven’t had a chance to do it through Amazon, because it won’t let small presses offer free books, just the major presses. But recently, the rights to “Do Wah Diddy Die Already” reverted back to me when my contract with the Dead and Breakfast anthology expired. I contacted my publisher about offering the short story as a freebie at one of the retailers she used. I’m delighted to say that she was happy to not only upload the short story, but design a cover for my short story! So now, for the first time in three years, “Do Wah Diddy Die Already” is available all by itself and for free here!

“Do Wah Diddy Die Already” is the third installment of the story that started in Do Wah Diddy Die, the novel and is the last adventure for Luci and Mickey (at least for now). Here’s the blurb for “Do Wah Diddy Die Already:”

Luci Seymour is out of the murder business and in the mom/wife/B&B business. Until the morning she sees a body in the new freezer. But when she goes to call in her homicide detective husband, she sees the dead guy walk in the front door. Not dead. Not even chilly…

Luci and Mickey’s adventures begin in Do Wah Diddy Die.

Luci Seymour – sexy & free spirited – returns to steamy New Orleans in search of the father she’s never met. She finds murder, mayhem, love and adventure when her timing puts her directly in the sights of an elderly hit couple and a con man’s last scam.

“Pauline Baird Jones has definitely carved a niche for herself in the category of romantic comedy, with talent that rivals the best and a sense of humor that is sure to leave readers breathless with laughter. If you love romantic comedy and haven’t had a chance to read DO WAH DIDDY . . . DIE, you don’t know what you’re missing. This one is a must read!”—Reviewer’s Choice Award from Scribes World
And here’s my book video (just released!) for Do Wah Diddy Dead:

Their adventure continues in Do Wah Diddy Dead.

If Miss Weena can put off dying to solve Miss Gracie’s murder, then Luci can’t play the pregnancy card to get out of playing side-kick. It’s not like it will be dangerous. Miss Gracie has been dead for decades…

You can read this short story in Ghostly Dreamspell.

Writing connected stories is a fun way to revisit characters and introduce readers to those characters and your longer books. I also like anthologies, because I tend to “meet” new authors while reading stories by favorite authors. If you’re in the mood for light and funny, with a hint of mayhem, all set in New Orleans, then pop over to ARE or Omnilit and download for FREE “Do Wah Diddy Die Already.” 🙂 Just keep in mind that is the end of the story.

Happy reading! Perilously,
Pauline
